As a New Mom I felt like I was caught in what seemed like an endless cycle of prepping, pumping or planning for the next Doctors appointment or family outing. My calendar was always packed with things I had to do for others and I was starting to feel like a background character in my own life.
I knew I had to get my Main character energy back and that started with making lists and becoming even more disciplined with myself. I started to write down what I wanted to accomplish for myself during the week, even self care days like “silk press” or “nail day” and making sure to give those tasks the same level of priority on my schedule as commitments I make to others. — Of course this also meant I had to learn to deal with Mommy guilt, or the feeling of FOMO when your partner calls you to update you on a cute moment you missed. But don’t let any of those feelings deter you from taking time to recharge and refocus.
One undeniable truth is, you can’t pour from an empty cup. So we each have to learn what helps us reset and refill our cup, so we can water and nurture the ones we love and care for.
